Dynamo Moscow got off to a good start in The Atlantic Cup 2015 after a hard-fought victory against FC Copenhagen. The Danish side grabbed the lead, but the Russians came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory
The Atlantic Cup 2015 got off to a lively start with both teams present near their opponents goals within minutes.
Dynamo Moscow played a through ball for Kevin Kuranyi in the first minute, but the captain just couldn't get a touch on it.
The minute after Danish outfit FC Copenhagen had an even better chance when former Cardiff-striker Andreas Cornelius was set up nicely with an excellent pass cutting through the Dynamo defence. Despite finding himself with space for a finish, Cornelius hesitated and was brilliantly closed down by Christopher Samba.
FC Copenhagen also had their new signing Bjørn Sigurdarson playing from the start. The Icelandic striker displayed some sweet touches and seemed to fit in nicely with the team. In the other end Mathieu Valbuena reminded us all of just how good he is with the ball at his feet.
It was the Danish side that went ahead when Thomas Delaney got the long locks of his on a good pass. The ball went flying into the corner leaving Vladimir Gabulov no chance. Tom Högli was the man with the assist.
The lead lasted for 10 minutes before Mathieu Valbuena equalized. Kevin Kuranyi found the little frenchman in the box and Valbuena neatly converted the chance.
The second half was also an even affair, but it was Dynamo Moscow who emerged triumphant. Artur Yusupnov scored the winning goal 13 minutes before the final whistle when he put the ball in the net at the far post. Stephan Andersen pulled off miracles for FC Copenhagen minutes before with a sublime double save, but there was nothing the keeper could do about the goal.
A great and even match started The Atlantic Cup 2015 and we can only look forward to the next game.
