Erik Hamrén is enjoying the good weather in Portugal while following up his players before the play-off match against Romania in Reykjavik in March. The whole of Iceland is dreaming of being part of a new Championship, and nobody is surprised if Hamrén leads the national team in this summer’s Euro. In Saturday’s match between AGF Aarhus and Sparta Praha, he had hoped to see midfielder Jón Dagur Thorsteinsson in action, but he was not in the squad for the match, so then it became a chat in the stands with the man with three international matches.

On Friday, however, Astan’s Icelandic midfielder was in action at Estadio Algarve, as the team from Kasakhstan lost 1-0 to FC København. The player with 25 caps did not make a bad figure in front of the national team
